If you've ever wondered who EJ actually is — you're looking at him.
Everett “EJ” Johnson served in the United States Navy as an electrician, joining up in 2001. Turns out the same electrical and technical instincts that kept a ship running translate surprisingly well to a fridge that won't cool and a dryer that won't heat.
He founded EJ's Appliance Repair in 2018 as a veteran-owned, family-operated Kentucky business. The goal was never to build a company that just fixes appliances — although, to be fair, fixing the appliances is fairly important.
What started with EJ has grown into a TEAM. But the original idea is still the whole point: EJ wanted customers to feel like they had an appliance expert they actually knew and trusted — not a stranger they had to start over with every time something broke. That's where the idea of becoming your “forever appliance friends” comes from.
Because when an appliance goes down, it's not just a machine — it's your morning, your dinner, your laundry pile, your day. We're here to help you get your home and your life back to normal.

Meet the Mascot
Chillbert Cooligan
Yes, there really is a Chillbert. There's actually a reason for all of this.
Every great appliance company needs a friendly face, and ours is a refrigerator named Chillbert Cooligan. The name is a little joke of its own: COOL + AGAIN = Cooligan. Because that’s what we do — we make refrigerators cool again.
And if you’ve noticed Chillbert always looks ready for a race, there’s a story behind that too. It started with the classic joke: “Is your refrigerator running?” Since Chillbert is literally a running refrigerator, it only made sense for him to be race ready.
But the race bib is personal, too. Running is part of the Johnson family. EJ’s three sons have all participated in track and cross country, so giving Chillbert a race bib became another little piece of the family woven into the character.
And the bib isn’t carrying a random race number. Look closely and you’ll see it reads EJs1 — a nod to EJ’s brand vanity phone number. Another little piece of EJ’s, hidden right there in the character.

It started with “Is your refrigerator running?”
